Aelfgifu of Shaftesbury was a member of the House of Wessex by marriage. She was the wife of King Edmund I and the mother of kings Eadwig and Edgar.

Aelfgifu of Shaftesbury Short Biography
Aelfgifu of Shaftesbury was the daughter of Wynflaed of Shaftesbury. The identity of her father and the year of her birth are not known.
She became the wife of King Edmund I in 939 and the couple had two sons, Eadwig and Edgar. Aelfgifu had a close connection to the Abbey of Shaftesbury and was buried there after her death in 944.
