Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of Anjou (1113-1151), was the founder of the House of Plantagenet. He was the son of Fulk V of Anjou, King of Jerusalem and married Empress Matilda, daughter of King Henry I. His son, Henry Plantagenet became the first Plantagenet King of England and ruler of the Angevin Empire.
Geoffrey Plantagenet, Count of Anjou, was the son of Fulk V of Anjou and Ermengarde, Countess of Maine. He was the second husband of the daughter of Henry I of England, Empress Matilda. The name Plantagenet was coined because he generally wore a sprig of broom (planta genista) on his hat. He was the father of King Henry II of England.
