Osburh of Wessex was a member of the House of Wessex. She was the daughter of Oslac of Hampshire, the wife of King Aethelwulf and the mother of King Aethelberht, King Aethelbald, King Aethelred and King Alfred.

Queen Osburh of Wessex Short Biography

Osburh was the daughter of Oslac of Hampshire. The identity of her mother is not known, nor is the date of her birth. In 830 she married Aethelwulf, the son of King Egbert and they had six children:

King Aethelberht (836 – 865)
Aethelswith (838 – 888)
King Aethelred (847 – 871)
King Alfred (849 – 899)

Little is known of Osburh’s life. The only recorded details of her are made in Asser’s biography of King Alfred the Great. She died around 854.
